Il Mare

What would you do when the one you love lives in a different time zone? Would you still be happy if she lives 2 years ahead? Would you feel the same if he lives 2 years behind your present time? This is the uniqueness in this movie. You can neither laugh nor cry, but it’s the twist of time that made me want to watch it through. It is a sad story without having a sad ending. (o´∀`o)

Il Mare, which means “sea”, was the name of the house. Before Kim Eun Joo moved to another place, she left one mail telling the next occupant to send to her new address the mails that will still be sent to Il Mare. At the end of the mail, she indicated the date, December of 1999. Then she placed it in the mail box of Il Mare.

Sung Hyun, the “new” occupant of the house read the letter. He replied to Eun Joo’s letter dated December of 1997. When Eun Joo noticed the date, she told him about it, and Sung Hyun answered that he really was living in the year 1997.

While they exchanged letters through the mail box in Il Mare, Eun Joo noticed that it was the mail box. It was the one that connected them to their different time zones. They continued exchanging letters and gradually fell for one another.

Eun Joo told him about the things that will happen at that time of the year in his time zone, such as the heavy snow fall and when influenza was prevalent. Sung Hyun told her that he wanted to see her. So she arranged a date that they would meet at one beach, where she planned to live her whole life, on the 11th of March (I think : )) 2000, Saturday. Sung Hyun must wait for 2 years to go there. When Eun Joo went to the beach, she saw that there was a house under construction. She saw the design of the house and asked who would live there and the one assigned answered that it was designed by her upper classmate for the one whom he loved. Without any clue, Eun Joo went ahead to the beach and waited for some time.

Then she told him about her ex-boyfriend who left her. She told him the last time where she and her ex-boyfriend met. It was in Yuoido. Definitely, Sung Hyun would go there. ( =̴̶̷̤̄ .̫ =̴̶̷̤̄ )

In Eun Joo’s time, she visited the architectural institution where Sung Hyun worked (I think). Then she saw the design that was in the beach. She was told that Blah Sung Hyun designed it for Kim Eun Joo. Then added that Sung Hyun  when he went to Yuoido to meet with someone, he was hit by a car. “It was a car accident.”

In a hurry, Eun Joo sent a letter to Sung Hyun not to go in Yuoido, crying and telling herself it was her fault.

Then the accident was showed, and Sung Hyun died. I was really sad. But that was not what happened. Sung Hyun received the letter and was still alive. (Yeay!)

At the end of the movie, the first scene was flashed back. When Eun Joo was about to move from Il Mare, Sung Hyun showed up and said, “I am going to tell you a very long story.”

The end. Yeay, he did not die, and they really met! Hahahaha. Much better. ( ¤̴̶̷̤́ ‧̫̮ ¤̴̶̷̤̀ )

I Give My First Love To You

A cute Japanese love story with a sad ending. However, it did not bring tears to my eyes unlike the previous story, but it is nice. (˘˘)

Title: I Give My First Love to You
(僕の初恋をキミに捧ぐ / Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu)

Cast:
Inoue Mao as Taneda Mayu
◕ Okada Masaki as Kakunouchi Takuma
◕ Hosoda Yoshihiko as Suzuya Kou

ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ

Childhood friends, that’s what Takuma and Mayu were. But they’re not just friends. “First love”, that was how they call it. ( ¤̴̶̷̤́ ‧̫̮ ¤̴̶̷̤̀ ) Takuma was born having a heart problem. Mayu’s father attended to him to keep him well, both as a doctor and as a father. Having such disease, strenuous physical activities and many types of food were forbidden. Takuma’s death could come in the most unexpected time.

They grew up together, went to school together, did things happily together, and sometimes quarrel over some things. When they reached high school, there also went a student who “loved” Mayu. (I don’t think that was love, maybe infatuation. Hahaha). Suzuki Kou knew about Takuma’s disease, and told him that if he dies, what would happen to Mayu? She would be in much distress and hurt, crying hardly every time. He told him about how his father died from the same disease as Takuma had. So, while Takuma was still alive, he wanted to get Mayu. In fact, that was what Takuma was thinking over some time. He said that he would break up with Mayu before he dies so that when his time comes, Mayu would be in less distress.

Takuma challenged Kou for a 100 meter sprint. The deal was, if he wins, Kou must stop bugging Mayu, but if Kou wins, Mayu would be his girlfriend. (Well, that’s an unfair deal, without Mayu knowing anything. Takuma came out to be the winner.

One time, when the two planned on skipping the class, Kou saw them and was also planning the same. (hahaha) He offered Takuma a friendship. When he got out from a hospital or a donor center (not really sure what it was. Hehe), he tried to avoid a bicycle on the road when a large truck hit him that led him to a coma.

Good news for Takuma, a heart donor came. The operation will be in two days. The doctor, Mayu’s father, told Takuma and his parents that the boy who was in an accident was carrying a heart donor slip and that was for Takuma. He ordered Takuma for a bed rest until the operation. Being always with Takuma, Mayu was also in the hospital. Seeing some other students wearing the same school uniform as her, she approached them and was told that Kou was in an accident and was admitted in the same hospital. That was when she knew that the donor was Kou.

When Takuma knew about the matter, he refused to undergo to the operation. Kou’s mother and grandfather, on the other hand, witnessed the tears of Kou flowing down from his eyes to his cheeks, and his one finger that moved. The doctor said that it was just spinal reflex but for them, it was hope. A miracle could happen. Seeing this, they cancelled the heart donor. It brought sadness to Takuma’s parents.

For the last time, Takuma and Mayu spent their time together and had fun together. They rode rides that were actually forbidden for him. Mayu tried to stop him but he insisted, and then told Mayu that it was the time for him. The next thing was an ambulance came up carrying him to the hospital and there, his body gave up. ( =̴̶̷̤̄ .̫ =̴̶̷̤̄ )

In the end, Mayu was wearing a wedding gown, alone in a church, holding a white container with Takuma's ashes. ( ¤̴̶̷̤́ ‧̫̮ ¤̴̶̷̤̀ ) Well, they got married though. (o´∀`o)

Love Phobia

I so much love this movie! Well, I can say that the plot is kinda common, just like most of the Korean movies, but it’s the flow of the story that makes it unique. The movie is serious but there’s a glimpse of a funny idea in this one that makes it different from the others. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Anyway, this one really made me cry ( =̴̶̷̤̄ .̫ =̴̶̷̤̄ ) for . . . five times, I think (hahaha). (o´∀`o) I don’t know, but unlike the other movies, this made a huge impact on my emotions while watching (LOL, hahaha). I highly recommend this one. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Title: Love Phobia (도마뱀 / Domabaem)

Cast:
◕ Kang Hye-jung as Lee Ari / Kim Eun Jung
◕ Jo Seung Woo as Cha Jo Kang

ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ

When Kim Eun Jung was born, a talking light was the very first to speak to her in her new world, saying that she was not from this planet. She came from the planet Epsilon, and she carries with her a curse. She must not let anyone touch her for death or sickness is the consequence. (Now that’s kinda weird. Hahaha)

Her parents died in an accident. So, she was adopted by her uncle who gave her a new name, Lee Ari. At her new school, in order for her classmates not to touch her, she wore a yellow raincoat and kept a lizard to scare them away. Everyone in their school was scared of her except Jo Kang. They became friends and Jo Kang knew about her, and her curse. He believed in everything she said. One time, Ari’s lizard was gone and Jo Kang tried to look for it. But the lizard jumped to the mud and Jo Kang followed it just to bring the lizard back to Ari, until it rained. They took shelter and Ari laid on his shoulders. Jo Kang caught the measles on the morrow. And when he went back to school, Ari just suddenly disappeared and never came back to school.

Years went by and they met again. He fell for her, and did everything just to see her smile (very sweet). (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

When Jo Kang asked her what does she see herself ten years from now, Ari answered that she would probably be married to a banker. He asked her why a banker. Then she answered, so that they can rob a bank together and buy a Russian spaceship for her to go back to their planet. Then Ari suddenly disappeared again. With that, Jo Kang became a teller in a bank when one day, while working, Ari suddenly reappeared and waited for him.

Ari told him that she was kidnapped by the NASA, and about the unusual circles found on some fields and was said that it was the sign of UFOs. (This is the funny idea I am talking about. :D) Ari kept on asking him that if they come to get her, would he send her off with a smile. And Jo Kang would answer not a word.

(this part is the best( =̴̶̷̤̄ .̫ =̴̶̷̤̄ )
Ari was hospitalized, and Jo Kang made one of those unusual signs on a field. When Ari was well, Jo Kang picked her up and brought her to the field where he made the sign, and there they waited for the UFO to come and pick her up. While waiting, he rode a bicycle, riding around Ari, talking to her while both of them was crying. (This is the part I cried a lot. Hahaha). Then the UFO (it’s really true in this movie. Hahaha) really came and picked her up.

the field of doom. LOL hahaha
Jo Kang moved on and started his own restaurant named Ari Jokang with a table that's always empty, reserved only for Ari. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Jo Kang

"Ari, with her yellow raincoat and white lies,
And me, who believed every word she said,
What little time we had has now become memories.
People might not believe it, but she was from outer space,
And she's gone back to her hometown.
Whenever I'm feeling particularly blue,
I look at the empty table reserved for her.
When I do, I am reminded of her pretty smile.
Love is remembrance.
Even tough she is gone, my heart still remembers her.
Sometimes, I open up my chest of memories,
Hoping to keep them locked in my heart forever."

Seducing Mr. Perfect

I super love this movie. Very, very funny and cute. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Not your typical Korean movie wherein the princess is all cute, and has got long hair that wears cute apparel and others. But this one, it's kind of a bit more mature in their appearance because of the setting that is in the workplace. I mean, those garments worn by the people working in a company. (haha) Couldn't explain it more clearly, but just imagine those clothes worn by company personnels, in contrast to those typical cute and colorful Korean fashion. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

The characters also, it's the first time I met them. Really, both of them. As I searched about them, I found out that Uhm Jung Hwa is ten years older than Daniel Henney. And it's not even obvious! Daniel Henney also starred in some famous Korean movies that I haven't watched yet. (I'll watch them when I'm in the mood. haha)

(ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Title: Seducing Mr. Perfect (Mr. 로빈 꼬시기)

Cast:
◕ Uhm Jung Hwa as Kim Min Joon
Daniel Henney as Robin Heiden

Genre: Romantic comedy

ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ   ღ

Words do not always express one's feelings.
People can lie with words, but not with their eyes.

Robin Heiden was assigned as the president in the company where Min Joon was working. Min Joon was assigned as his assistant. One time, when they were riding a taxi, Min Joon was calling her boyfriend but her boyfriend did not answer. So Robin told her that her boyfriend was cheating on her cuz that's what he does when he cheats (haha).

They talked about the matter, and Robin was saying all sort of hurtful words to her saying that she's being pathetic, too sensitive, and doesn't have self-respect. Then Min Joon, being in rage already, said that she could have many guys in line begging for her if she wanted to. Then Robin said, "Then make me beg for you." It was some sort of a challenge and a tease to her.

So that's how the "Seducing Mr. Perfect" began. As time passes, Robin, little by little, fell for her and spent more time with her.

they look amazing together. hahaha
Then their feelings grew. And automatically they were together. (haha) So Robin came and visited Min Joon's family.

The conversation went like this:
Dad: Son, what I want to ask is: Do you love my daughter?
Robin: Yes, sir!
Mom: He said yes!
Dad: So the reason you are visiting us is because you want to marry my daughter?
Robin: No, it's not that. I do love Min Joon, it's just that I have no intention of marrying her. . .just yet.
Bro: He said he loves her, but he doesn't want to marry her.
Mom: What is that supposed to mean?
Dad: (angry at Robin, haha) Get out! Get out, you mannerless brat!
(hahaha)

Her brother actually ruined the moment, without fully understanding what Robin was saying. (haha)
And they lived happily ever after. (hahaha)
